There are few games today that can match the expectation of Starfield, the new installment of Bethesda y Microsoft that will arrive exclusively on PC, Xbox Series X / S. The past Starfield Direct left us many new features that propelled our desire to play it to stratospheric levels, but the thing does not end there because we have recently learned new details.
We have a new load of interstellar information clarifying some important doubts and points that have not been made clear so far. There are occasional disappointments, but in general they are things that could be guessed from the presentation of the Summer Game Fest.
has been his own Todd Howard who has answered a good number of questions on the channel’s podcast Kinda Funny Games and that the content creator Oskar1up has collected on YouTube. Some have been left unanswered (if there will be black holes, for example), but in others it has provided quite a few details. Below we offer you a quick list reviewing them all.
News about Starfield: exploration, flora and fauna, ships and more
Starfield on more devices? Todd Howard has answered the million dollar question, but as many of you imagine: he says that Starfield is likely to end up coming to portable devices like the Steam Deck.
Exploration and life on planets. Let’s start with the bad news: there is no fishing as such in Starfield, at least not at launch. On the other hand, Howard pointed out that only approximately 10% of planets harbor life and he has a very simple explanation: Bethesda wants to maintain a balance between science fiction and the realistic. It will have fantasy elements, but overall they want us to feel like we are in a possible future. This also includes populations and structures: there won’t be much population density except for the major planets.
waste planets. Despite not having life, they still have strong exploration components and not just for appreciating the landscapes and mining. This means that they could hide surprises.
Fauna and flora of the planets. Life in Starfield will have some complexity. Howard confirms that we will have ecosystems, which will include both peaceful and aggressive (predatory) species. In addition, the fauna evolves and changes according to the biome in which we find ourselves. We already commented on this in iGamesNews: the more biomes on a planet, the more diversity of species. As for plants, each one will have its own characteristics that can benefit us in different ways.
scans. Exploring the planets will be a very important part of the experience… and especially our economy. Howard confirms that scanning both on and off planets brings a lot of money, which means it’s possible to specialize in professions like explorer, zoologist, and botanist, for example.
Vehicles and mounts. There isn’t, at least during launch. Howard assures that the jetpack is enough to explore all the planets. We also cannot use animals as mounts.
relationships and karma. We already knew that we can establish relationships and that all our actions affect how our partners see us, to the point that they can abandon us. It’s been happening for many years in the Fallout saga, for example. All this is included in Starfield, although Howard has confirmed that it is possible to play it completely alone, since we are not required to bring a companion. On the other hand, we will only have four story arcs to find a partner. This is not to say that there are not more possibilities, but they do have their own history.
Ships, crafting and upgrades. Hide your wallets because Howard has confirmed that crafting and upgrading ships are going to be VERY EXPENSIVE. Bethesda has thought of everything and the ships we steal will require VERY EXPENSIVE registration before they can be upgraded. She points out that these mechanics pertain to the endgame. In other words: that our ship will be the first to limit us where we can go.
space radius. By far the worst news of all: Starfield doesn’t have a space radio with bangers like in Fallout. But… Howard points out that there is a location that has its own radio. Finally, he points out that music is a very important element to the experience.
Certainly, some points can be disappointing for many players who may expect some Starfield that will never come We will be very attentive to any information to tell you all the details and secrets that come to light.
It is essential to remember (and repeat) that Starfield seeks the balance between fiction and reality. We know that Bethesda has used data from NASA and other private companies to develop the game, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that it strays in many ways from No Man’s Sky, for example. Everyone should be clear about this point before starting to buy it.
