Rockstar Games fans currently don’t want to give up hope that an early announcement of GTA 6 is imminent. After all, rumors and potential leaks around GTA VI (CE) have raised expectations in recent weeks.
Now a livestream is causing a stir, which promises the supposedly upcoming unveiling of Grand Theft Auto 6 … for April 1, 2020. Many fans are skeptical because of this fact and the firm belief that this is just one somewhat more elaborate April Fool's Day acts.
There are a number of indications that the alleged “GTAVI” channel on Twitch fans is deliberately misleading:
- The Twitch stream is not verified: In contrast to the official Twitch channel from Rockstar Games and other channels of the video game developer, the alleged »GTAVI« account is not verified by Twitch. In addition, fans should be taken aback by the fact that Rockstar Games does not make such an announcement on the main account with the greatest reach
- Write errors in the content description: In the original description of the alleged “GTAVI” account, typographical errors were found that make the entire channel unbelievable. Of course, spelling mistakes happen every time – even Rockstar is not immune to this – but one should assume that with such an important announcement, it will be checked five times and not just twice. (Incidentally, according to Dexerto, the spelling mistakes have now been corrected.)
- Countdown ends on April 1st: For many fans, the fact that the alleged TTA channel for GTA 6 promises an announcement of the rock star game for April 1, 2020 clearly indicates that the livestream is an April Fool's joke and therefore a fake.
Why do fans fall for the fake livestream?
Have at the time of this article's publication over 48,000 spectators Already paid a visit to the alleged Twitch channel for GTA 6, while currently over 350 viewers are still watching the action live. A Fake trailerwho referred to this livestream also generated over 10,000 likes on Twitter at the weekend.

The fans of Rockstar Games can hardly be blamed: After the sheer mass of rumors and alleged leaks about GTA 6 in the past few months, they lick their fingers after only every possible information about the video game. However, Rockstar itself keeps your feet stillwhile trolls take advantage of fans' hope.
And at first glance, the alleged »GTAIV« account even makes a relatively credible impression. The information the revelation promises coincides with speculation from previous rumors: Vice City as the setting, the 1980s as a setting, and an action centered around drug cartels.
In addition, the Linking from Rockstar Games social media accounts for actually confusing the channel with an official one. In addition, various “leaks” spoke of the fact that GTA 6 will be revealed in March 2020.
Fans should not expect an early unveiling
However, industry insider Jason Schreier already contradicted these statements, according to which we should not expect any news about Grand Theft Auto 6 "in the foreseeable future".
