With Fall of Porcupine, the Cologne-based studio Critical Rabbit takes on more serious topics, but gives them a lighter touch through the setting. In the debut work, anthropomorphic animals dominate the scenery, but behave just like humans.
In Fall of Porcupine you experience the story of the young resident Finley, a pigeon. The story-adventure refers to situations that take place in hospitals and brings difficult topics such as grief, death and strokes of fate to the table. The Cologne-based developer studio Critical Rabbit was very busy during the research phase, speaking to over 20 people from the medical sector in preparation.

Based on these conversations, the developers eventually created the stories they tell in Fall of Porcupine. Not only should this make the game feel more authentic, Critical Rabbit also has another goal in mind: to make players aware of the circumstances and problems in the current healthcare system. The hand-drawn look with the anthropomorphic animals gives the partial swings in the stomach area a slightly lighter touch.
If you’re not sure whether the story adventure meets your taste, the studio has a demo ready for you. This is called “Last Days of Summer” and acts as a prologue to the game. You can download the prequel for free on all Fall of Porcupine release platforms.
The game is now available on the PC via Steam, GOG, Epic Games, the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It is priced at 19.99 dollars, in line with today’s release But Critical Rabbit has a launch discount of 15 percent, which drops the price to 16.99 dollars.
