Although Fallout 5 is not expected to be released for many years, fans are already discussing what changes they would like to see in this highly anticipated sequel.
Despite the explosive success of the Prime Video series set in the post-apocalyptic universe, Bethesda’s immediate priority is Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6. But that hasn’t stopped fans from thinking about the future they plan for Fallout 5.
Fans want Fallout 5 to come out of its cozy vault
Most of the games in the franchise are (sorry) clearly linked to the legendary Fallout Shelters. In the first, third and fourth games, as well as in Fallout 76 and the series, the main character is a Vault dweller. This provided a certain contrast between the golden underground life of its inhabitants and the horror of the wasteland. Among the main titles in the license, only the second work and New Vegas deviate from the rule. On the one hand, we play a tribe member descended from the hero of the first game, on the other hand, we play a courier. Paradoxically, these two games, which offer a departure from the beaten track, are considered the best in the series.
To break the momentum of the latest games, fans would like the protagonist of Fallout 5 not to be a Vault dweller. They are actually showing a certain fatigue with this all too often repeated pattern. For them, a big change in this highly anticipated sequel would be welcome on this point.
Lots of good ideas, but are they heard?
The most popular opinion even goes so far as to suggest the role of a ghoul, a human disfigured by radiation but endowed with incredible longevity. Still others would like to play as a member of the Enclave, a faction generally portrayed as one of the main enemies of the games.
Finally, some are pushing the role-playing idea even further by imagining the possibility of choosing between different origins, as proposed in Cyberpunk 2077. Whatever direction Bethesda takes for Fallout 5, the wait could be extremely long. The Elder Scrolls 6 remains the studio’s next priority and there isn’t even a release window yet. All that’s left is to freeze yourself like in Fallout 4 to make time pass faster. But maybe not make a jump of about 200 years, at the risk of waking up in a world disfigured by bombs or other post-apocalyptic disasters.
