Far Cry 5 will be five years old on March 27th and for Ubisoft that seems to be cause for celebration. As the publisher announced, the game will even receive a new update for the occasion.
Update:
And there it is, the update. A new update is now available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which gives the game native 60 fps on both consoles. The resolution has also been adjusted. Full HD is on the cards for the Xbox Series S, the Series X now offers 4K resolution, and the PS5 has to be content with a dynamic resolution of 2,880 x 1,620.
Apart from that, there is also a Free Weekend on which the game can be played completely for free. The same should take place from March 23rd to 27th, on all platforms. There then, off to Hope County.
Original message:
Far Cry 5 – who doesn’t remember the trip to Hope County to put a stop to the dubious cult leader Joseph Seed. The title is now five years old and Ubisoft wants to celebrate that.
As Ubisoft announced via Twitter, the game will receive an update to mark the anniversary, which will include a “much desired feature for next-gen consoles”. So far, however, Ubisoft is still vague on what exactly belongs to the update. Should there be a genuine next-gen update coming our way? We will see.
Far Cry 5 was the fastest-selling Ubisoft title at the time (2018), selling over five million copies in the first week. However, the setting also caused controversy, as right-wing groups in particular called for a boycott because white and religious Americans appear as villains – despite the fact that the game is a fanatical cult with a subtly insane leader.
Far Cry 5 was released on March 27, 2018 and received a quasi-sequel with Far Cry: New Dawn a year later, which takes place in a different section of Hope County at a later date.
