news culture Fast and Furious & Jurassic Park: For Chris Pratt “Never Say Never”
A few weeks ago, a strange rumor circulated on social media. According to some people, whose sources remain far too vague, if not non-existent, a totally unlikely project could see the light of day. We’re talking about a crossover between the Jurassic Park and Fast and Furious franchises. We had Chris Pratt on hand for an interview ahead of the release of Jur assic World: The World After and asked the American actor about it.
“Never say Never”
The merging of two great film sagas, as pleasing as the idea on paper, cannot be done without further thought. No doubt fans of Fast and Furious and Jurassic Park would have their say and criticize a project that could end up being a nice kid. I have to say that Skillfully mixing big cars and gigantic creatures straight from the Jurassic period is not easy. There are certainly the Xenozoic Chronicles comics, more commonly known as Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, that were released in the late ’80s, but this is a pulp story that can afford to risk anything.
For US actor Chris Pratt (Star-Lord – Guardians of the Galaxy and Owen Grady – Jurassic World), such a project has very little chance of seeing the light of day, even if it is said to be nothing is ever set in stone. A Jurassic & Furious movie in 2022 remains a fantasy born of the fan imagination and nothing else.
I heard those rumours. Often fans invent such stories. It’s more of a fantasy than anything. The studio didn’t tell me about it, but hey… never say never. If that were to happen, I wouldn’t sign anything without reading the script and understanding how someone would manage to blend these two worlds through a certain narrative gymnastics. I’m not saying it will never happen, but it seems very unlikely. Sounds more like a fan theory. – Chris Pratt (Owen Grady – Jurassic World: The World After)
Fast and furious 10
It has now been two weeks since information about Fast and Furious 10 continues to enrich the debates surrounding the saga online. By posting multiple photos and/or videos on the various social networks (Instagram, Twitter, etc.) Vin Diesel, but also Charlize Theron and Jason Momoa arouse the curiosity of the fans. This tenth and penultimate episode of the main series is scheduled to hit theaters in May 2023, a year from now.
The film was originally slated to be directed by Justin Lin, an artist who has worked on several episodes of Fast & Furious as well as Star Trek: Without Limits. However, the latter left his post mid-shooting in early May 2022, with no clear explanation of the reasons for his departure. He was replaced at short notice by French director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, Titan Shock, Insaisissables). This quick replacement is explained by the costs associated with Justin Lin’s resignation. A day of shooting would mean $600,000 or even $1 million in downside for Universal Pictures.
