After being exclusive to the Epic Games Store for a while, final fantasy 7 remake Now finally on Steam – in about 8 hours (as of Thursday 11pm UK time).
Square Enix revealed the expansion for the PC version today as part of a livestream celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy 7. It will also run on the Steam platform, the very excited Kitase Kaden said in a dedicated Final Fantasy 7 stream.
Fans have been waiting for the PC version to hit Steam since last December, when it arrived on PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive.
The version released on PC is the “full” version of the game, meaning it contains both the core FF7 Remake game and the “Intergrade” add-on that was first released as an exclusive to the PS5 version of the game. FF7 Remake itself retells much of the original FF7’s story with some interesting twists, while Intergrade is a brand new chapter that fills in the backstory of beloved character Yuffie.
The PC version of the game is stable enough, but lacks options and PC features on EGS – and has annoying stuttering issues on some hardware configurations. Square hasn’t done a great job of tinkering with the game, but fans have been paying attention to it – I recommend FF7R’s ModDB page, which has textures and performance upgrade mods in between all the mandatory “sexy gear” mods. Even without mods, the game is great – it’s just a slightly disappointing PC port.
