The latest patch for Final Fantasy 7 Remake changes the English version of the iconic final line Aerith delivers in the game, and naturally, this adjustment has many FF fans scratching their heads.
With Final Fantasy 7 Reborn launching later this week – you can read our review here – now’s a great time to finish the game and get back in the FF mood. However, many players returning to the game have stumbled upon some of the minor tweaks made in the latest patch, and some players aren’t too happy about it.

The most talked about change in “FF7 Remake” on Twitter and ResetEra is the change to the last sentence of the English version of the game. Originally, Alice would look up at this moment and say “I miss it. Steel Sky”, but after the patch, she now says “This sky… I don’t like it” instead.
Fans of the dramatic jargon used in the former – which, to be fair, has some good alliteration – were a little disappointed by the more mundane phrasing in the replacement, while others were a little confused as to why at all.

So why? Well, the answer seems to be simple, make the English translation of the line more consistent with the Japanese translation, while leaving the Japanese translation unchanged. So, you’re actually getting a slightly more faithful version of the scene, and probably more in line with everything that’s going to happen in Rebirth.
Okay, now I’m going to talk about the other small changes made in the recent FF7 Remake patch, probably for very similar reasons to the above. This is a tweak to Tifa’s character model from the game Nibelheim’s flashbacks, and just by reading about it, you probably already know what people don’t like about it.
If you want to know what I mean by that last line, look here Twitter post from our own Alex Donaldson It outlines the change and shows some rather bizarre reactions to it from people who absolutely only care about video games being protected from censorship.
In other FF7 Rebirth-related news, Square Enix recently said that the full version of the game will be a bit better from a graphics perspective than the demo version when it was first released.
