We’ve been waiting for a while, and now, the next big thing from Square Enix final fantasy game. Although it has been in development for some time, final fantasy 16 It was announced back in September 2020 for PlayStation 5 only. Since then, Square Enix has deliberately kept quiet about the game, lest it “speak half-finished and cause speculation about the title of the game.” Smart move.
Today, however, things have changed. During Sony’s State of Play livestream, the developer released a new trailer on the world that showed more of the mysterious, highly fantasy game.
The trailer embedded below shows what we’ll see as the new summons or rulers that will be introduced to the game. Named and listed are Ramuh, Ifrit, Odin, Shiva, Bahamut, Phoenix, Garuda and many more. We see battles between divine entities that take up the entire screen – and have fighting game-like health bars in the scene. Um.
This is the start of more Final Fantasy 16 trailers from Square Enix as it gets ready to ramp up its hype for the game. After all, back in April, we heard that Final Fantasy XVI was in the “final stages of development.” Even better, the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, bluntly points out that this is a game made for players who crave the previous era of Final Fantasy games.
“For those of you who have grown up and realized that reality is against you, and moved away from Final Fantasy, we want Final Fantasy 16 to be a game that brings back the passion you once had for the series,” he said.
The game is set in the land of Valistea, where six factions have come to a near-conflict point due to a spreading disease called blight. Expect tensions, warring factions, summons, crystals, and chocobos. Indeed, it’s all Final Fantasy. In addition to the names of the main characters, Clive and Joshua.
So far, Final Fantasy 16 has only been confirmed for the PS5 – although there is some speculation that it will be coming to PC six months after the PS5 and other consoles a year later. This latest trailer confirms PlayStation’s “Summer 2023” release date.
