As part of the Game Awards, Square Enix presented two new additional content for Final Fantasy XVI – one of which is already available.
The action role-playing game Final Fantasy XVI is receiving two paid new DLC chapters on the PlayStation 5. Square Enix announced both “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide” at the Game Awards; The first additional content mentioned is now available in the PlayStation Store. If you buy this together with the second DLC as part of an expansion pass, you will receive both chapters at a reduced price.
The first DLC chapter “Echoes of the Fallen” includes a new story as well as new battles, weapons, accessories, a new level cap and more. The adventure begins before the final battle of the base game, when strange, dark crystals begin circulating on the black market. You accompany Clive and Co. on their investigations, during which you come across a group of suspicious traders who lead you to the abandoned and ruined Sage’s Tower and the terrible secrets it holds.
Among the special bonus items included in the DLC and Expansion Pass are the Armored Sword, which allows Clive to wield Cloud’s famous weapon from Final Fantasy VII, and the Music Roll from “Away (1987)”, which is a modified version of the song “Away” can be played as background music in hiding.
Details about the second DLC pack, “The Rising Tide,” will be announced at a later date.
On the occasion of the game’s nominations at the Game Awards and its win in the “Best Score and Music” category, there is also a discount campaign so that you can purchase the role-playing game at a 40 percent discount in the PlayStation Store until December 11th.
