One of the most anticipated games of 2024 on Xbox Series with a release date and a big surprise.
Indiana Jones and the Elder Circle by MachineGames (Wolfenstein II The New Colossus) seems to have all the makings of a good adaptation. Set in 1937, between the events of the Raiders of the Lost Ark films and those of The Last Crusade, the story of this new game will mix all the ingredients of the license to appeal to fans. There will be exploration of ancient ruins, sometimes with puzzles and mechanisms to decipher, a trip to all corners of the world to exotic locations such as the Himalayas, Egypt and its pyramids of Giza or even Thailand. And of course there will be big action sequences beating Nazis, otherwise it wouldn’t be faithful.
Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle dates on video
Geoff Keighley had used it extensively Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle to promote Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2024, and the game published by Bethesda did not fail. As expected, the Xbox Series Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass and PC December 9, 2024. Just in time for Christmas, this should be a good gift idea for latecomers. But there was also a big surprise. The game will be available on PS5 in spring 2025.
As the new trailer proves, it’s really something very faithful to Lucasfilm’s cult license. In addition, MachineGames was able to collaborate with the company and thus access more information. From recreations of the original costumes to details on the franchise’s various media, Lucasfilm has opened its Alibaba cave to the Wolfenstein teams. But unlike the studio’s flagship FPS, the focus will be more on dodging conflicts, solving puzzles, and so on. In short, since Indiana Jones is first and foremost an adventurer and not a killing machine, the game takes this fact into account. The Gamescom 2024 trailer underlines this, showing various gameplay snippets commented by Troy Baker (MGS 5, The Last of Us), the voice actor who lends his voice to Indy in the original version.
