Finally a release date for the DLC and a big surprise

Big, date, DLC, finally, release, surprise

As promised, FF16’s second DLC has appeared once again, and it promises to be a huge slap in the face. As a bonus, we had a release date.

Fans of the Final Fantasy franchise are currently having fun in “Rebirth” alongside Cloud and Co. Nothing unusual, it’s a pure marvel that we invite you to if you haven’t already. But FF16, for its part, has far from said its last word. The game has more than one trick up its sleeve, and you probably know where we’re going with this. We are of course talking about the new DLC: The Rising Tide. The latter just showed up during a big event, with… a release date!

The second DLC of FF16 appears again

Remember, Square Enix gave us a date a month ago that we shouldn’t miss. Time should be dedicated to FF16 during PAX East in Boston. As expected, the team behind the game responded on March 22, 2024 to talk about the expansion called “The Rising Tide.” This includes Takeo Kujiraoka, the director of the DLC, or Naoki Yoshida, the producer of the title. After Echoes of the Fallen, we can’t wait to get our hands on this new DLC, which has been very mysterious since its announcement. Fortunately, we are now feeling a little less in the dark.

In fact, we’ve only had part of a trailer to hold onto so far. You have to admit, it’s a bit bright. Thanks to him, we still knew that we were going to Mysidia, a magician village very well known among license lovers. Leviathan will be there, and we can say it was about time given its popularity. Small important reminder, but we already know how long this adventure lasts. Kujiraoka had already commented on the matter, saying that we could expect around ten hours of gameplay before seeing the end. It’s pretty extensive.

In any case, the new trailer for the FF16 DLC presents its story in a little more detail and the challenges ahead. The gameplay is obviously the focus, particularly the fight against Leviathan, which is simply impressive. We also see Clive use his power against certain enemies, and once again we get a nice visual slap in the face. This isn’t the only video featured on The Rising Tide, as various aspects of the expansion were highlighted.

And then the release date?

During PAX East, the developers looked back at the history of the expansion. Like “saving” Leviathan by beating him up with Ifrit. Well, we won’t have an answer, but we will be reminded of the importance of this confrontation to the Eikon’s survival. We’re also told it’s going to be a pretty tough fight. We therefore recommend thoroughly mastering Ifrit before starting the DLC. The latter reserves the right to further surprises, such as new endgame content. But we haven’t yet arrived at the announcement that everyone is waiting for, namely the release date. This is scheduled for April 18, 2024, priced at $19.99 for around ten additional hours of play.

And that’s not all. A major free update will be available immediately. However, no launch date has been announced. It will bring some desired features such as: B. Changes to quest icons, the ability to create and save 5 attack profiles, customize accessory effects, 40 new parts for the Orchestrion and much more. A collaboration with FF14 is also planned, as well as with FF Brave Exvius. Both will be released sometime in April 2024, with a release date not yet set. You’ll have to wait a little longer for the PC version, Yoshi-P just reminds us that it’s coming “soon.”
