Actually, Nvidia's new GPU generation Ampere was expected to be launched in March 2020, but due to the corona crisis the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) intended for this could not take place as planned.
New keynote date on May 14 at 3 p.m .: In an official press release, Nvidia has now announced that the keynote of GTC 2020 by CEO Jensen Huang (see the picture below) will be published in mid-May at www.youtube.com/nvidia.
The title of the message is a clear reference to the successor to the Turing generation (Geforce RTX 2000) from 2018 called Ampere: It begins with the words "Get Amped (…)", which means " Look forward to (…) «with a particularly enthusiastic undertone.
No details about new player graphics cards: As usual from the GTC as a developer conference, no concrete information about new player GPUs can be expected at the upcoming keynote. The announced information in the field of professional graphics cards should certainly allow certain conclusions to be drawn about the RTX-3000 models.
In addition to professional GPUs, the keynote will also focus on the topics of artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous driving and robotics, according to Nvidia.
Nvidia RTX 3000 rumors and release
So far, there are only rumors about Nvidia's new Ampere graphics cards, which among other things promise a performance increase in the range of 40 percent compared to the RTX 2080 Ti.
It is clear that ray tracing will also be an important factor for the new graphics cards, but what is particularly exciting is how their pricing is.
Last but not least, that should also depend on what competitor AMD has to offer with the new Big Navi graphics cards in terms of performance and price. They could be launched along with the Ryzen 4000 CPUs in the fall.
When do the RTX-3000 graphics cards appear? According to the latest rumors, Nvidia wants to wait for AMD's next steps before the release of the RTX-3000 generation, which has so far been suspected for autumn 2020, takes place. In the case of both AMD and Nvidia, it cannot be ruled out that the consequences of the corona crisis will lead to shifts.
