Fire TV: Amazon now also provides better sound

Amazon is expanding its Fire TV Stick portfolio. In addition to the well-known TV sticks and the Fire TV Cube smart speaker, there is now also a product for better sound in the home cinema.

Amazon is bringing the Fire TV Soundbar to Germany at the end of July. The approximately 60 centimetre long device contains two 20 watt speakers. Thanks to support for DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Digital, these should provide better sound in your home cinema. If you are not watching TV, the soundbar can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker. However, this requires a corresponding connection between the soundbar and a mobile phone or tablet.

Contrary to what the name suggests, the Fire TV Soundbar is a pure soundbar. It does not have an integrated Fire TV Stick. This must be purchased separately. According to Amazon, the Fire TV Soundbar should work “optimally with Fire TV televisions and other Fire TV devices”, but it can also be connected to any other smart TV that has an HDMI-eARC or ARC connection.

The Fire TV Soundbar will go on sale in Germany on July 29th. Pre-orders are now possible. If you order the soundbar now, you can also save money. Amazon is selling it for a short time for 109.99 dollars, the recommended retail price is 139.99 dollars.

However, the purchase only makes sense if you already own a Fire TV Stick and are dissatisfied with the sound of your TV speakers. If the latter is the case, the Roku Streambar is the better choice. It is a soundbar and TV stick in one. You can currently get it at Saturn and Media Markt for just 59 dollars.
