The Minecraft MMO Hegemony was supposed to be released on February 22, 2019. Then it was postponed for two weeks. The new date was the weekend of March 7th. The launch also took place.
However, there were so many technical problems that the developer took the servers offline again and decided to move them again. The plan is now on March 28, 2020.
Unexpected rush: 2,000 players wanted to gamble
In a blog post, the studio explains its reasons for the new shift. So there were not only performance problems, but also difficulties with the storage system. Both ran smoothly in the stress tests with 200 people, however, the servers collapsed under the onslaught of 2,000 players.
Although a number of fixes have already been implemented over the weekend, the developers are not yet satisfied with the result. The main reason is that a problem with saving objects has not yet been solved. This creates problems especially in connection with the quest system.
So it goes on: test phase & new launch
To take up this challenge, the servers are taken offline again. You want to use the time until the new date to complete the update to version 1.15. This not only comes with a new storage function, but also with performance improvements. There will also be a one-week test phase before the new launch.
Progress is partially reset: While you keep your items and skills, the update will reset your quests and your rank. However, guilders will be refunded to your bank.
If you already want to play a Minecraft MMO, you can alternatively pass the time with Wynncraft. Up to 500 players have been online here for most of the time since 2017. It also always gets updates. Incidentally, an already playable Hogwarts role-playing game has also been created in Minecraft for Harry Potter fans.
