With Flashback 2, an iconic platform shooter from the 90s is known to return. There is now a new release period for this – and a limited edition has also been confirmed.
Publisher Microids today finally announced fresh information about the sequel Flashback 2 after it had been quiet for a long time about the comeback of the retro shooter from the 90s. The game should have been available, but was pushed back to 2023 last year – and now there’s a more specific release date.
Today the company announced that it should be ready in November 2023. Then Flashback 2 will be available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 as well as the Nintendo Switch. In this context, a limited edition of the game was also confirmed for the latter three platforms.
This limited edition platform shooter includes:
- the game
- an exclusive steelbook and
- the Flashback 2 digital soundtrack
Flashback 2 is the sequel to the first Flashback that made waves in 1992. Now, more than 30 years later, comes the sequel from Paul Cuisset, the creator of the original; the title is being developed in cooperation with Microids Lyon/Paris Studios and should remain true to the well-known flashback universe despite the new interpretation and features. This is due to the fact that well-known developers from the original team are on board, including Thierry Perreau (game design) and Raphael Gesqua (composer).
What is the platform shooter about? In the 22nd century, the United Worlds span the entire solar system, but this hitherto peaceful coexistence is one day threatened by the Morph invasion led by the fearsome General Lazarus. Conrad B. Hart embarks on another adventure filled with twists and turns and big revelations as he searches for his longtime friend Ian. He is aided by his few allies, including AISHA, his iconic AI-controlled weapon!
You can see what the whole thing should look like in action in the newly released gameplay trailer!
