Microsoft Flight Simulator players who own an RTX graphics card can now enable Nvidia’s AI upscaling and anti-aliasing technology. Asobo Studio and Microsoft released Sim Update 10 for this purpose. In addition to improvements for DirectX 12, it also contains a new feature: DLSS 2.0.
Version 3.0, newly announced by Nvidia, will follow at a later date. With version 2.0, owners of the 2000 and 3000 series of Geforce RTX graphics cards can expect performance increases in flight simulator, while version 3.0 is reserved for the new 4000 series.
The game is famous for stunning graphics and notorious for hardware starvation. Accordingly, Nvidia and Microsoft advertised the expected performance gain with DLSS 3.0:

Smooth Flight Simulator: Double the FPS with the new Nvidia graphics cards
We were not able to check how the usually performance-enhancing DLSS 2.0 affects it. However, there are still immature elements that groan during fast flight in the engine.
DirectX 12 still a flying construction site
Update 10 for Flight Simulator contains various improvements for the overall stability, performance and memory usage of the DirectX 12 interface, as Microsoft explains in the blog post.
DirectX 12 support is still in development. Therefore, under certain circumstances, performance problems can also occur due to the high GPU memory usage, which can be countered by reducing the graphics settings.
In addition, a newly added technique for memory allocation will only be available in the game when Nvidia releases the associated driver update for Geforce cards. The DLSS 2.0 technology in Flight Simulator has probably not yet developed its full potential.
With Sim Update 10, Microsoft is making numerous other adjustments to Flight Simulator, including bug fixes, crash elimination (of the software!) and improvement in loading times. You can read the long list of patch notes on the official site.
