Sky holds the rights to Formula 1, but some races are also broadcast on the free TV channel RTL. We reveal where you can watch the Japanese Grand Prix.
- RTL will broadcast some Formula 1 races on free TV in 2022.
- The background is a cooperation between the rights holder Sky and RTL.
- Normally you can only see the races on pay TV or as a live stream.
Formula 1 races belong to the premier class of motorsport and you can usually only see them on Sky in this country. But the pay TV broadcaster is also cooperating with RTL this season, so four races will also be broadcast on free TV.
However, the Japanese Grand Prix, which is held at the weekend, does not belong to any of these races. Formula 1 can only be seen again on RTL in November. Then the station shows the Brazilian Grand Prix. It is also the last race that RTL broadcasts this season.
The Japanese Grand Prix, on the other hand, can only be seen on Sky and in Austria on Servus TV. You can also watch the race via Wow (formerly Sky Ticket).
Beware of shady offers
If you find other live stream offers for Formula 1 on the Internet, we advise you to be careful. Sometimes these can be illegal offers, the use of which is punishable by law. There is also a risk of catching a virus on such dubious streaming portals.
