Fortnite: Players declare war on the Tesla Cybertruck

Did Epic Games think carefully about including Tesla’s Cybertruck in Fortnite? The players’ opinion of the ugly vehicle is clear and its drivers in the game need to brace themselves.

Collaborations are commonplace in Fortnite and quite a few of them are well received by players. This is apparently less the case with the latest crossover. The Tesla Cybertruck that is coming into the game could apparently do with a target as a paint job. The community’s reaction is clear: anyone caught with a Tesla in the game is fair game and free to be shot.

Pretty much all players agree that everything will be left behind until there are no more Cybertruck drivers to be seen. This is probably not the reaction that Epic Games was hoping for when the crossover was announced, but even the developers are not a fan of this move, not least because of the decadence and numerous technical problems of the original vehicle.

Fortnite producers Robby Williams and Kyle Wynn have made their Cybertruck stance clear: “Destroy on sight.” And their dislike of Tesla boss Elon Musk is not neglected either: “The truck looks stupid as hell and the CEO of this company is a piece of shit,” Wynn says clearly.

There is also discussion on Reddit about the fact that the Cybertruck doesn’t make any sense in terms of gameplay either, as the huge windshield offers less protection than all other vehicles, making the driver an easy victim.

The Cybertruck is the reward in the game for a nine-part quest series of the Summer Road Tip Event, which started a few days ago. One quest is activated per day, so the vehicle should be visible in the game from July 31st, if anyone dares to get behind the wheel. The events will remain active until August 6th, after which the Cybertruck can only be purchased with V-Bucks.
