Chapter 4 of Fortnite kicked off this weekend with a ton of new skins and shiny features for all to see. Namely, Unreal Engine 5 Update arrives with Doom, Geralt of Rivia, Hulk, and… Mister Beast. Fair play, epic.
So, we can safely say that Fortnite looks better than ever with the help of Lumen and Nanite in UE5. Since Doom is an exclusive battle pass, I have no doubts I’ll be hitting the Victory Royales this season. That said, some of the changes to the game have understandably left a sour taste in players’ mouths.
One of those changes is the weekly challenge. Previously, players could start a weekly challenge and it would take an entire season to complete. Weekly quests also accumulate, so players can play Fortnite at their own pace and still have plenty of quests to work on.
Now, as user JaredG pointed out on ResetEra, “Weekly missions are no longer cumulative, you have to play once a week to complete them.” JaredG himself isn’t happy with the change at all, and they’re not alone.
Kanuuna responded, “Sounds very hostile to late players. I like to do this in batches, a few weeks at a time for the past few seasons.” More and more types of quests are time-bound. Taking away the player’s ability to do things at their own pace is a very bad direction for the game to go in.”
Santa is right. Fortnite is a game that I play a lot. My friends and I jump maybe two or three times a week in a row each season and ignore the game the rest of the time. So we do a weekly batch together just for fun. Santar added: “I don’t like being forced to play for more time than I have fun. Whenever I want to do it, I always end up doing it suddenly,” and I share the exact same sentiments as many others.
With the new changes, players tend to play the game once a week and complete their quests each week without failing. If you miss them, you’re missing out on a lot of XP that you can usually earn later in other ways.
Now, that said, some players on ResetEra have suggested that the quests mentioned by others are not actually standard weekly quests either, hence the lack of quest buildup. Netizen New Donker asked, “Are we sure the ‘this week’ challenge is the weekly? I thought it was just a limited set of early missions.” As Valcrist followed up, “I have a feeling the real weekly will be next week or so.” Appeared the next day or so.”
User Selbran also noted, “I think they’re just early challenges. Last season, there were a bunch of “week zero” challenges that disappeared at the start of the season.” These weekly quests are only for the start of the season.
However, until we see more weeklys appear in the game and see whether they accumulate or disappear as the season progresses, it’s too early to really tell if JaredG’s concerns are justified; only time will tell for our min-maxers Can you keep blasting and earning sweet XP in our Fortnite Weekly.
fortnite has New weekly quests usually appear every Thursday at 3pm GMT / 7am PT / 10am ET / so we’ll soon find out on Thursday whether our weekly is due, or continue to stack weekly; hopefully the latter.
