News business Forza Horizon, Fable: The Playground Games studio is going mad
Playground Games is now a historic studio in the video game industry: we owe all of this to Forza Horizon and even the next Fable. Only here does the law firm announce the departure of one of its most prominent members.
New horizons for Gavon Raeburn
All good things come to an end. Gavon Raeburn, the current head of Playground Games and co-founder, is leaving the Playground Games ship after twelve years of good and loyal service: Microsoft shared the news in a press release shared by Windows headquarters.
Raeburn’s departure is undoubtedly a major turning point for the British studio as it was its leader and vision. : Founded in 2009 and based in Royal Leamington Spa, it has grown to become one of the most popular companies in the video game landscape in just over a decade thanks to the Forza Horizon saga. right up to one of the spearheads of the Xbox house (Microsoft even bought the company in 2018). An admirable breakthrough in the industry that has obviously been a part of the developer who is a true veteran of the racing game who previously worked on the DiRT, GRID and F1 sagas at Codemasters.
Playground games in a unique playground
This news coincides in particular with the development of Fable. together, Reboot of the legendary action RPG by Peter Molyneux, for which Playground Games is responsible. Quite a fascinating fact considering the studio is only known for its car game skills – you just have to look at the sensational work on Forza Horizon 5 to make it happen – then officiate on a completely different genre. A fact that hadn’t reassured players and pushed Phil Spencer to reassure the community.
We don’t know for sure whether Gavon Raeburn’s departure is related to this important diversion (the director would have preferred the Forza horizon ?), nor where he wanted to go next. What we know is that the other co-founder of Playground Games, Tevor Williams, is stepping down as General Manager with immediate effect to follow him.
