Frogwares, the creators of The Sinking City, the horror game for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Switch, believe that the generational leap that Xbox Series X and PS5 will bring will take time to be seen by intergenerational games. In the interview published by the media Wccftech also they doubt that all the games will work at 60 frames
"We are very content that we are transitioning to much faster SSD storage. For open world games, that saves our lives (and time)," says the studio communication manager Sergey Oganesyan. "I think more and more developers will offer you to choose between resolution and framerate. I personally hope 60fps will become the standard, but optimization is not that easy, especially for smaller studios."
The generational leap will not be as noticeable at first because the games will be intergenerational
From the studio also responsible for the latest adventure of Sherlock Holmes they doubt that the generational jump is appreciable since the launch of the new consoles"Looking back at what happened when the current generation was introduced, we probably shouldn't expect an absolutely extraordinary leap in terms of standardizing game quality, as intergenerational titles will exist for a time."
"I don't think developers can suddenly stop supporting a huge fan base that has grown over the life cycle of the current generation, unless they have the financial incentive from console manufacturers to offset potential lost sales," Oganesyan continues.
Still, since Frogwares are optimistic with technical capabilities of the systems that will arrive in a few months, because we should expect "things like better textures, better framerate, better lighting, better load times, larger maps, more detailed environments, etc. There are many things and the improvements will be more than appreciable "
PS5 and Xbox Series X are planned for a global launch to late 2020. Microsoft detailed the technical characteristics of the console and its interior and exterior design in March. The same month Sony unveiled the PS5 components, but not how the machine will be. Both companies are expected to make a console-focused event in May
