Eldon Ring There are over 100 named bosses. Given the sheer number of boss fights you may find yourself in, some will definitely be less popular than others. For example, boss fights you have to deal with two, sometimes three enemies at the same time.
The idea of you being trapped in an arena with more than one powerful enemy is already scary, but Elden Ring’s enemy AI has previously made these fights more intense than they need to be.
Developer FromSoftware seems to agree, as it recently nerfed boss AI, especially those in group battles. This change was made in patch 1.04, but was not announced by the developers in the patch notes. Instead, it was discovered by players when they noticed that these battles became less strenuous.
So what actually changed? Well, according to YouTuber Illusory Wall – you may remember their excellent video documenting the many hidden changes Elden Ring has made to the map since its release – it all has to do with how aggressive the bosses are allowed to be.
As they explain in the video below, patch 1.04 does it, so bosses who aren’t actively involved will back off a bit and generally be less aggressive. FromSoft does this too, so the number of “primary” attackers is reduced, which prevents all bosses in the arena from attacking you at once, as there are fewer and fewer people who can take on this role now.
However, it appears that not all gang fights benefit from both behavioral changes. Some, like the Erdtree Avatar duo and Crucible Nights, received only one of these changes. Still, even single changes have made them easier than when they were released.
