Meanwhile, Frostpunk 2 has been available since September 2024 and now the developers have commented on the console release and upcoming DLCs with a fresh roadmap.

Frostpunk 2 had put a very strong release and brought significantly more than 500,000 copies on the PC alone, even if there was sometimes criticism due to performance problems and the playful innovations. But: For 11 bit studios, the game can be seen as a success and now it goes into extra time.

In an updated roadmap, the studio has now commented on the upcoming appointments. Accordingly, it continues with an extensive content update, which, according to the current status, is planned for May 8th. The update should be particularly about the management of the city and update a lot in it.

In summer it is finally time to the long -awaited release for Doee consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, whereby no precise date is named. But at least the period was incorporated a little. The first paid DLC called Spectrum will then be released in autumn. The second DLC Aurora is also to follow this year. However, a third planned DLC will not do this and is now scheduled for 2026.

It will be interesting to see how the console version will be and whether the content updates and DLCs can satisfy the wishes of the players. Frostpunk 2 met with quite divided opinions, since in some aspects it differed significantly from the predecessor. In his test, colleague Basti wrote about Frostpunk 2: “Due to the focus on politics and the change from the small, intimate tribe to the big city, Frostpunk 2 loosens pretty much from everything that made its predecessor unique and popular. But is that bad? At least if you can cope with it – apart from the setting – is a significantly different game.”
