Netflix would like to get rid of it and Steam has had it in a reduced form for a long time: we’re talking about family sharing, or whatever the concept is called, in which several people share access to a library or a subscription service . Now Microsoft is trying a similar model with its Game Pass, where five of you have full access.

First of all, of course, the whole thing only runs as a test. Prices and conditions can therefore still change and it is even conceivable that the plans will be scrapped again. At least if the offer does not bring the hoped-for success. It is not yet known when the family pass could start internationally. So far these are the most important key data:

An exact price has not yet been announced, but a month of Game Pass Ultimate is said to be 18 days of the new offer be worth
. We can therefore assume that the price for the family pass will be a little less than double. That would then correspond to about 25 dollars per month, i.e. 5 dollars per person if there are five of you. So you would get away much cheaper.

Who can join?
If the current plans are implemented, everyone can probably upgrade their subscription to the family pass or start from scratch. The remaining time in the normal Game Pass will then be credited to the Family Pass. In the current test, owners of the family passport can also only share it with residents of the same country. Whether this limitation is only part of the test conditions or will remain is still unknown.
