The intriguing The Alter, which was first revealed last year, has finally shown off some gameplay. Developed by independent studio 11 Bit Studios, the survival/management game aims to let you brainstorm (yes, plural).
If 11 Bit Studios is a name that sounds familiar, it’s because we already have them to thank for the excellent This War of Mine. With The Alter, the Polish independent studio wants to offer a similar experience, but with lookalikes of our character. Explanations.
Split personality is real in The Alter
We first heard about The Alter during the PC Gaming Show with a video that only presented the synopsis. We finally got to see some gameplay during the Xbox Partner Preview this evening. So it’s a survival/management game. We play Jan Dolski, an ordinary man who crashed on a very inhospitable planet. He won’t be able to escape alone. The solution ? Rapidium, a substance that allows the creation of alternate versions of himself.
Therefore, in The Alter, it is up to us to reconcile our different personalities with the common goal of survival. Unfortunately, each personality has its own unique characteristics and goals. The new ambitious and very original title from 11 Bit Studios is therefore characterized by a puzzle that will literally leave your brain in knots.
In addition to this original component, the game has a very pleasing to the eye art direction, powered by the Unreal Engine. In any case, this is a roundup of ingredients that make you want to eat. However, you need to be patient to try it out. The Alter is expected for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass in 2024.
