This year’s game show will take place in the real and virtual worlds.

The physical part of the event will take place at the Cologne Exhibition Centre in Cologne, while an “extensive” digital programme will also be available online worldwide.

Organisers say the hygiene and safety concept, which has been repeatedly tested and proven by Koelnmesse, will be used at Gamescom 2022 and complies with all currently valid regulations to ensure “safe and high-quality accommodation”. To this end, measures such as improved admission management, digital queue management, ultra-wide aisles or limited ticket allocation will be implemented.

“All fans and partners of Gamescom have been waiting for two years: gamescom is finally back in the Cologne showroom, and it’s a unique festive feeling that we all miss so much,” said Felix Falk, Managing Director of Games, Association of the German Games Industry.

“This year we’re getting the best of both worlds: our extensive digital program combined with an unparalleled Gamescom live experience.”

“We are now finally back at gamescom in Cologne and online! This is thanks to the convincing momentum of the gaming industry. It makes me very happy,” added Oliver Frese, COO of Messe Cologne. “Together we have built a strong concept, and in this context we have certainly ensured the safety and health and well-being of all those present.”

This year, the show will also be made greener with the “gamescom Go Green” project, which will be designed to be climate neutral in the medium to long term and through carbon offsets by reducing and avoiding CO2 emissions and in the short term Gamescom as a whole.

Gamescom 2022 will run from August 24th to 28th, with the Gamescom opening night live stream on Tuesday, August 23rd.
