This is what Gaming Without Borders is all about
The gamescom in Cologne is considered the largest gaming trade fair in the world and welcomes all peopleNo matter what your background is – as long as you love games, you are invited to celebrate your hobby with thousands of others. That’s what Gaming Without Borders stands for.
Am 21. August 2024 The awards will be presented by a jury of experts at the congstar exhibition stand, honoring people, projects and features that make video games accessible to everyone. This is about inclusion in every form: for example, visibility for marginalized groups, or giving people with physical disabilities better access to games.
The initiative has been working to promote inclusion in gaming for several years and works with people with disabilities to achieve this. In 2023, the Gaming Without Borders Awards were presented for the first time.
The categories
As last year, awards will be presented in five categories. The nominees for each category have not yet been announced. The following categories are part of the awards:
- Award national: This category is aimed at initiatives in Europey.
- Award international: The second category honors initiatives around the world.
- Award Representation: Games in which minorities are made particularly visible.
- Award Hardware & Technologie: This award is given for special technological achievements in the field of inclusion.
- Award Personality: This award recognizes individuals who are committed to inclusion in gaming.

Die Jury
The jury is made up of interdisciplinary participants. Experts from the fields of gaming, research, education and journalism are represented here. Compared to last year’s jury, the panel for the 2024 awards ceremony has been expanded again. The exact details of who will be on the jury this year have yet to be announced.
