Gears of War E-Day could be released sooner than we think

EDay, Gears, released, sooner, War

On June 9, the busy Xbox Games Showcase ended with a bang with a Gears of War E-Day trailer… but no release date. However, it might be coming out sooner than you think.

The famous Gears 6 turned out not to be a sequel, but a prequel to the first game released on Xbox 360 in 2006. Gears of War E-Day therefore intends to deliver a masterful graphical punch with a gameplay that would be very different from its famous elders. However, the question that is on the lips of all fans remained unanswered: what about a release date? We received some details on this subject from the well-informed Tom Warren of The Verge.

Gears of War E-Day: A Machine Already More Oiled Than You Think?

With only a cinematic trailer, but apparently made with Unreal Engine 5 and assets taken directly from the game, the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 made us think that Gears of War E-Day was far from ready for release. No gameplay was shown, but it is said to be quite different from previous games. More immersive, more “intimate”: set 14 years before the very first game, this title aims to make us feel the primal fear of the Locust threat. With more advanced graphics than ever before, the graphic slap of a drone promises to be all the more masterful in more ways than one… when the game is released on PC, Xbox Series, and Xbox Game Pass.

On this topic, Tom Warren had some pretty good news to share with fans in his latest post Newsletter. He has heard from sources close to Microsoft that Gears of War E-Day could be released in 2025. Generally well informed, he also mentioned that Fable 4 could be released in the fourth quarter of 2025… after the new game from The Coalition!

However, in the absence of an official announcement for one or the other highly anticipated Xbox exclusive, it is advisable to take these predictions with a grain of salt. But if they come true, 2025 will be a really explosive year for Microsoft’s gaming industry. In addition to these two iconic licenses, we will also see the release of DOOM The Dark Ages and South of Midnight, among others. A new dawn for Xbox?
