The Gears of War series has long ceased to consist only of action games; Gears Tactics, for example, already has a tactical spin-off. Now developer The Coalition has announced another implementation.

The Coalition, the developers of the successful Gears of War series, have announced a new implementation of the series, which is not a classic game player with an action focus. After the spin-off Gears Pop! and the approaching offshoot Gears Tactics is now actually getting a Gears card game!
Gears of War: The Card Game is scheduled for release later in 2020. The really classic card game comes from Steamforged Games, which have previously adapted several video games as board games, including Dark Souls, Horizon: Zero Dawn or Resident Evil 2. Many of these games actually rely on a large number of miniature characters, but the now appearing Gears- Implementation focuses on cards. Since there is also a Dark Souls card game, this topic is not entirely new to the makers.
We've teamed up with @SteamforgedLtd for something new – Gears of War®: The Card Game.
Demo it for the first time this weekend at #GearsMX!

The team is led by Tyler Bielman, who was also responsible for the Mirrodin and Darksteel expansions for the world-famous trading card game Magic: The Gathering. For the Gears card game, he has set an action-based campaign in which the decisions you make should have a major impact on the further course of the scenario. Depending on the situation, you will always get different new scenarios at hand.
A demo version of the new card game was presented at an Gears 5 eSports event last weekend. Accordingly, it will probably be a co-op card game, further information and a release date are still pending.
