Nvidia’s game streaming service wants to make streaming at 120 frames per second available for mobile devices in the coming weeks. For this you need the right membership and the right smartphone or tablet. Because the new feature is only possible with the most expensive Geforce Now subscription.
Nvidia writes a small one every week Newsletter on the so-called GNF Thursday, i.e. Gefonce Now Thursday. Here the company introduces innovations to the service and new games that will be added to the service. In this newsletter, Nvidia announces that all smartphones with a 120 Hertz screen will soon be able to play at real 120 Hertz. In addition, the so-called RTX 3080 membership for around 20 dollars per month is required.

iPhones will probably go empty-handed
The wording in the newsletter suggests that all smartphones with a 120 Hertz display will soon be able to stream at 120 FPS. But that doesn’t seem to be the case when looking at the colleagues from 9 to 5 Google believes. They asked whether iPhones and iPads are also supported.
According to Nvidia, the feature is only available via the native Android app, which means that Apple devices can continue to stream at a maximum of 60 frames per second, even with a 120 Hertz screen. It is currently unclear whether iPhone users will sooner or later be able to play at 120 FPS.

These devices are certainly supported
On a support page from Nvidia you will find a list of devices that have already been tested by the graphics card manufacturer and on which you can play with the increased FPS. - Samsung S22/ S22+/ S22 Ultra
- Samsung S21/ S21+/ S21 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 3
- Galaxy Flip 3

While it is highly likely that the service will run on other devices with the increased frame rate, there is no guarantee. It is also unclear when exactly the release will take place. It may well be that the feature will be rolled out gradually. If you’re currently thinking about giving Geforce Now a try, we’ve tested the service for you:
