In recent years the German Computer Game Award has taken place in the form of a gala in front of an audience. The corona virus is now forcing the award to undergo a massive change.
The German Computer Game Award will take place on April 27, 2020 as planned. Despite the corona virus, the award ceremony will not be canceled, as is the case with the E3. However, this year it will be held to the exclusion of the public. Instead, the gala will be streamed on the Website of the German Computer Game Award

The gala of the German Computer Game Award is moderated by Barbara Schöneberger and Nino Kerl from the YouTube channel Ninotakutv. Barbara Schöneberger is moderating the DCP for the third time. Last year's award ceremony was heavily criticized, as politicians used the gala for self-staging and moderator Ina Müller made fun of the winners and the gaming industry on stage.
