Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks to release free update for supernatural action game Ghost Wire: Tokyo April 12. This will coincide with the game’s launch on Xbox Series X/S.
New content includes brand new game modes, new areas to explore, expanded story cutscenes, quality of life improvements, and more for current and future owners of PlayStation 5 and PC.
This updated and expanded versi on will be released with Xbox Game Pass on Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC. New content and game modes in the Spider’s Thread update will be available from day one on Xbox and PC via Xbox Game Pass in the most complete version of the game.
In the new game mode, you’re tasked with navigating a challenge of 30 stages chosen from over 120 levels with one simple goal: reach the finish line. As you clear challenges and complete stages, you’ll unlock further skills and earn in-game currency to level up.
Spider’s Thread has also added new locations in Tokyo, including the local Middle School area. These new locations come with new quests to take on and unravel even more mysteries. The main story will also feature extended cutscenes, giving you more insight into the plot as you play Akito and KK’s adventure to stop Hanna from destroying Tokyo.
New visitors come to Tokyo in this update, including the invisible Silent Gaze, the fast-moving Retribution, and the flying Crimson Dancer. To defeat these new enemies, Akito will gain new abilities such as Charge Rush and Counter Attack.
A counterattack can be used to follow up a successful block. Charge Rush is an evolution of your Ethereal Weaving technique, allowing you to enhance your Palm Strike into an elementally charged melee attack.
You can also use the new Tengu Wind and Spiritual Fountain amulets, allowing you to descend whirlwinds to reach new heights or spring to replenish your Ether reserves. Quick Dodge is another new ability that can be used to dodge enemy attacks.
The update includes an expanded photo mode with stamps superimposed on images. Use the in-game Meika to unlock characters on capsule machines scattered around Tokyo to unlock game models that can be used in photo mode for paranormal selfies.
More features are included in the update, but the developers want you to discover them for yourself.
Ghostwire: Tokyo launches globally in March 2022, and the action-adventure game originally launched as a one-year time-limited exclusive for PlayStation 5 and Windows.
When it was released, iGamesNews gave it a 4/5 review, noting that while its lead combo and open-world design can be problematic at times, the bizarre side stories and engaging combat more than make up for any slack and match the game’s more comical The elements live in harmony with the alternative elements.
PlayStation Plus members can download and play games on PS5 throughout March.
