Stadia may not have a future (literally, albeit sadly) after the closure of its servers, but Google has managed to tie up the loose ends well: it has refunded all game and content money to its players, it has offered five months for free to subscribers of the payment plan and different solutions have been offered to import the games. In fact, don’t throw your controller away: you can continue playing with it.
Google has announced that starting this week a tool will be enabled so that Stadia controller holders can enable their Bluetooth connections. In other words, they can use it on PC, with any compatible console or different devices. If everything goes according to plan, we can continue our games on Steam Deck. Why now and not before?
The main thing: It has not been necessary to have the Stadia Controller, the Google Stadia controller, to be able to play. One of the great advantages of the platform itself is its compatibility with practically any controller, mouse, and you could even use your mobile and its screen to improvise games. However, for its part, Google launched a comfortable, very versatile control model with a very obvious defect: it could only be used to play Stadia. Until now.
The Stadia controller, by the way, was included in the starter packs, in the juicy bundles released with Cyberpunk 2077 or Resident Evil Village and even a very special edition was offered to the first buyers with a very special color that you can see below. That it can continue to be used it will make the initiative and its logo more memorable and, in the process, save those now without a gaming rig a small investment in an extra controller.
There are still several details to offer in this regard., but it is clear that Google did not want those who bet on its cloud gaming model to be left with a bad memory. Even if it is in the form of a command. In any case, It is not the only novelty that comes to us before its closure.
Worm Game: one last gift before saying goodbye

Coinciding with the announcement of the closure of the Stadia servers, Google closed the platform store (basically, to avoid having to make more outlays) but enabled the Stadia Pro games promised and announced only a little earlier. Now, to everyone’s surprise, he faces his decline with a little surprise: Worm Gamea game out of nowhere, is added to its catalog.
Simple to say enough, Worm GameIt’s not just anything: it was the first Google Stadia game, which was used to test and shape Stadia’s cloud gaming technology.
Enjoy the game that came to Stadia before Stadia saw the world. “Worm Game” is a humble title that we used to test numerous Stadia features from well before its public release in 2019 through 2022.
It won’t win Game of the Year, but the Stadia team spent MANY hours playing it, so we wanted to share it with you. Thanks for playing, and for everything.
What better way to say goodbye to Stadia than with the video game that started it all?
Google Stadia servers will shut down next January 18, 2023 and with them hundreds of games and hours of play. Most of them will make the jump to other platforms allowing progress to be transferred. Other games and matches, however, will disappear completely. Let it not be said that Google did not try to stand up to the very expensive hardware when it comes to playing video games.
