Google will apparently remove a feature from Maps in 2024. This is revealed by the app’s source code. It could happen as early as February.
The so-called “Driving Mode” will probably no longer be available in Google Maps from February 2024. This is indicated by lines in the app’s source code. According to the online magazine specializing in Google, that’s where it is 9to5Google to read “This view will no longer be available in February”. The information text is already stored in the source code, but is not yet displayed in Google Maps.
Driving mode is an optimized view that is activated when you use Google Maps in the car and start navigation. Driving Mode gives you quick access to Google Maps, compatible apps like Spotify and the Google Assistant. The view replaced the Assistant Driving Mode that was available until then in 2022.
Driving mode is apparently about to end
