Gothic by Piranha Bytes might not be the best role-playing game on the planet, but it had a great story and was brimming with decisions. The remake announced by THQ Nordic is now apparently picking up speed.
The role-playing game Gothic by the German studio Piranha Bytes has long been one of the classics of the genre. Some time ago, publisher THQ Nordic explored the interest in a remake and confirmed in February after a positive response that the same should be tackled.
The Gothic remake is now apparently being developed by Alkimia Interactive, a studio that was only founded in Barcelona in 2020. There are now 35 developers working there, the team is currently apparently to be increased by 16 more employees for the Gothic project.
According to THQ Nordic, the development of the remake is already in full swing. First details about Gothic Remake will be announced in the next few months. THQ Nordic had already confirmed that it would strive for a “transparent and open production”, apparently in order to bind the Gothic community to the project straight away.
The release is not only planned for the PC, but also for the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X. There is not yet a specific release date.
