Gothic will survive Piranha Bytes – despite or because of the remake
Gothic, a name like Donnerhall. Also because he said goodbye to gaming history in 2006 with a thunderstorm called Gothic 3. The official game history at least. Because Gothic still captivates an eager community that not only keeps the name alive, but also constantly creates new mod projects – including even ambitious total conversions like The Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos.
Micha and Peter discuss with a special guest what makes the name Gothic resonate to this day and what expectations are associated with the upcoming Gothic remake:
Robin “Milgo” Bach knows every snapper on Khorinis by their first name and has been in the community for 21 years World of Gothic active and has developed Gothic 2 mods himself and studied digital media and games.

Of course, we also talk together about the plight of Piranha Bytes: How did Robin experience the news of the possible end of the Gothic parent studio? What does he hope for the future of Piranha Bytes (if there is one) and especially for the Gothic series? Would a Gothic 4 still be conceivable, because of course there never was one? Yes, never.
And what about the Gothic remake, which is being created by the Spanish team Alkimia Interactive under the leadership of producer Reinhard Pollice? The promises of Alkimia sound good, but will they really be fulfilled? Can the remake violate modern role-playing conventions in favor of the Gothic feeling – and does it even have to?
You can see that in the video above – and of course you can hear it here in the podcast:
