Netflix has secured the GTA Trilogy for its games portfolio and is offering it to its subscribers. This is turning out to be a success for the streaming giant.
A few years ago, Netflix began offering games as part of its streaming subscription. It started with a number of smaller mobile titles, but then steadily expanded the line-up. Well-known titles were then intended to ensure further growth – and with Grand Theft Auto, it landed a really big name for this.
For some time now, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition has been included with Netflix subscriptions, meaning three previous GTA classics in an upgraded version. This deal with Rockstar Games is set to prove a success for Netflix, as according to new data from mobilegamer.biz, the GTA Trilogy has now been downloaded over 30 million times via Netflix.
The data collected via Appmagic shows that GTA: San Andreas was installed around 20.5 million times via Netflix, GTA: Vice City had 6.5 million installations and GTA 3 had another 3.3 million.
iOS is the much more popular platform, with 15.8 million of San Andreas’s installations on Apple devices, for example, compared to just 4.7 million on Android. The ratio for Vice City is also clearly in favor of iOS, with 4.9 million to 1.6 million, as is the case for GTA 3 (2.4 million iOS vs. 929,000 Android).
