With Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games is currently working on a title that is about as hotly anticipated as Half-Life 3. But the open-world gangster spectacle has one thing ahead of any existing shooter: it has now really been developed with one Trailer presented and has a rough release date.
However, the release of the trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI didn’t go as smoothly as Rockstar Games probably wanted. A leaked version landed online a few hours before the actual publication. Due to this unpleasant circumstance, the studio was forced to put the video live a few hours earlier than planned.

In the course of the publication of Take-Two’s current financial figures, CEO Strauss Zelnick also spoke plainly about the leak. Unsurprisingly, the team wasn’t thrilled, but not angry. Rather, the disappointment that the trailer ended up online in advance prevailed.
He stated: “Regarding the leak, something like that is always disappointing for the team, but ultimately I don’t think it hurt us.” Some developers on the team also agreed with this statement in the past. After all, they worked hard towards the deadline and then the planned release was ruined.
However, the leak really didn’t hurt the hype about GTA VI. The video currently has 174 million views on YouTube, which is impressive in itself. A whopping 96 million people clicked on the trailer within the first 24 hours.
The hype train for Grand Theft Auto VI continues to rush through the Internet. Maybe the leaks even played a certain role in this? After all, a hacker published tons of clips from the project a few months ago, which massively increased interest.
