Via social media service Bluesky, the well-networked and informed Jason Schreier from Bloomberg has now spoken out and emphasized: “Nobody at Rockstar I spoke to believed that autumn 2025 is a real publication time-and that for a very long time.”
As a reason, he states that too much work on the game is simply necessary and the time was simply too tight. “The fact that GTA 6 slips into 2026 has been inevitable for months, if not even longer,” said Schreier.
The Schreier had always referred to the following since January of this year and predicted a shift – despite the official statements that were still different at the time. He should be right!
Meanwhile, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactie, has also said for shift: “We support Rockstar Games completely to take additional time to realize your creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises a groundbreaking blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds the expectations of the players.”
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on May 26, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S – if it stays with it.
