If you haven’t played GTA 5 yet (first of all, this is a gaming site, how did you get here?), here’s some sad news. It’s leaving the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus next month, having only joined the service in December 2023.
Yes, your plans to become a GTA expert by beating the series until GTA 6 comes out in the fall of 2025, without wanting to at least pay retail price for one of the games, have now been thwarted. I sympathize. You’ll just have to watch last year’s first GTA 6 trailer over and over again until the time comes.

Michael, Franklin and Trevor’s sunset adventure on PS Plus has been confirmed thanks to the PlayStation Store’s Last Chance to Play page (thanks, PushSquare ) June 18th is the fateful day when you’ll have to say goodbye to both the PS5 and PS4 versions of the game, probably with tears in your eyes.
Honestly, GTA 5 leaving PS Plus comes at an interesting time, as the hype train for GTA 6 will likely attract more people to play it than in years past, and it doesn’t come to PS Plus until December 19, 2023. Yes, that means it’s been on PS Plus for less than six months.
Regardless, get ready, the bad news isn’t over yet. Monster Jam Steel Titans is also set to go away on June 18, and earlier this week the service announced it was saying goodbye to its sequel, Monster Jam Steel Titans 2, as well as a bunch of Final Fantasy games that I’m sure some nerds will care about.
Why PlayStation? Why wouldn’t you want to play your submarine with a monster truck?
Well, I’ll tell you once I regain my composure, but MotoGP 23, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition, DC Super Pets League: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace, Dodgeball Academy, Indivisible, Wild at Heart, Unturned, and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated are the other games that will be leaving Extra. Baja: Edge of Control HD will also be leaving PS Plus Premium at the same time.
In other recent Rockstar-related news, some data mining has sparked a new round of speculation that the first Red Dead Redemption could be coming to PC soon.
