GTA 6 has officially been delayed, after all it may be speculation that Rockstar has stuck with a long time with a blurred fall release window. It will now drop on May 26, 2026.
Yes, the big behemoth of late 2025 won’t come until next year now, so we all have to find something else to completely consume our lives and/or save the gaming industry during that time.

“We are so sorry, it's later than you expected,” Rockstar wrote in a news post announcing the delay, “the interest and excitement surrounding the new Grand Theft Auto is really frustrated for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and patience when completing the game.
“In every race we release, the goal is always to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We want you to understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.
“We look forward to sharing more information with you as soon as possible.”

In a Bluesky post about the news, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has reported some additional context, writing: “Nobody I've talked to at Rockstar has believed Fall 2025 was a real window for a very long time now. Too much work, not enough time, and what appears to be a real desire from management to avoid brutal crunch. GTA VI slipping to 2026 has seemed inevitable for months if not longer.”
Because, I mentioned that before this rock star stuck with the fall 2025 release window in the game, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had re-accepted IGN's inquiry, because the possibility of the game was by saying:
We have to see how this date change affects the rest of the gaming industry’s release boards, as everyone is scrambling to avoid blowing the new game away. “GTA 6 is basically a huge shooting star and we'll be away from the explosion zone,” a studio owner said of an interview with the gaming business earlier this year, saying, “We'll be back or going back to avoid it for three weeks.” “The problem, of course, is that everyone will do the same thing. So three to four weeks before or after GTA 6, you'll be in a lot of games that they think are discarded in a safe area.”
