Rockstar has confirmed the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, we’re calling it Grand Theft Auto 6 Currently, it is “going smoothly”.
No further information was provided, but Rockstar did say it looks forward to “sharing more information as soon as we’re ready.” In other words, it may be a while before we hear anything else. Still, if the 2020 report is accurate, expect the game to be smaller compared to previous Rockstar games.
It will also reportedly bring players back to Sin City and will present the Miami-inspired area in a more modern way. The game is also expected to offer similar content updates to Warzone, Fortnite and other live service games.
If a recently discovered Rockstar patent is any indication, GTA 6 could also feature smarter NPCs. It is based on the intelligence and navigation capabilities of augmented artificial intelligence.
Back in June 2021, multiple reports surfaced that GTA 6 was still in early development and wouldn’t be another four years. In other words, don’t expect it until sometime in 2024 or 2025.
Rockstar announced the development of GTA 6 just days before its parent company’s Q3 2021 financial report. Take-Two may offer more color on its Feb. 7 call with investors, but that’s unlikely to be the case with CEO Strauss Zelnick and his company. Like to put things on the chest.
