GTA 6: Will there be cross play?

The release of the highly expected rock star games GTA 6 is getting closer. One of the biggest questions that GTA fans are asking whether the title will support cross play. We clarify.

• It is unlikely that GTA 6 will bring a cross play function to the launch. It is still open whether the feature will be delivered at some point later.
• So far, there has been no official statement on the part of Rockstar Games on this topic. The predecessor GTA 5 still does not support a cross play.
• Practically excluded is a cross play compatibility between the console players and a future PC version of GTA 6.

Fans of the series have been waiting for over ten years, in autumn 2025 it should finally be ready: Rockstar Games has announced the release of GTA 6 for this period. Many details about the upcoming title are already known – but some have not yet. The latter includes the question of whether GTA 6 will have a cross play function. We clarify what is considered likely on this question and what is not.

The functionality in an online game is called cross play thanks to which players of different platforms – for example, PC, PlayStation and Xbox – can play together on common servers. Games that do not have a cross play functionality have their own lobbies-PC players only play with other PC players, PlayStation (PS) player only with other PS players and so on.

GTA 6 will probably not support a cross play for the launch

There are some indicators to the question of whether there will be a cross play function at GTA 6. The most important thing is that so far no rock star game- neither title from the GTA, nor from the Red Dead Redemption or other rows- has brought a cross play functionality. Therefore, it is also unlikely that GTA 6 will at least enable cross -platform games directly to the launch.

Not even the question of whether GTA 6 will bring an online mode as its predecessor has been officially answered so far-but it is likely that the online mode at GTA 5 is very popular and ensures that the game is still relevant today. It also remains open whether Rockstar may introduce limited cross-splay functionality for the two consoles in the future. It is possible.

It is practical, however, that a (probable) future PC version of GTA 6 will bring a cross play feature. This would lead to a significant disadvantage of console players who can only control their protagonists with the controller and not with a mouse and keyboard- the PC version of GTA online is also plagued by Hackern and Modderen, which would make the game for PS and Xbox players inedible.
