Guild Wars 2 is finally coming to Steam after 10 years, release coming soon

The enduring MMO Guild Wars 2 has been running for almost a decade. For the big anniversary, publisher NCSOFT and developer ArenaNet have a surprise in store for you: Guild Wars 2 will be released next week on Steam, and you will soon be able to secure free rewards via Twitch Drop.

The tenth birthday of GW2 will not officially take place until August 28, 2022, but already aFrom August 23, Steam players can also

dive into the fantasy world of Thymesia. However, the developers point out that existing accounts cannot be accessed via Steam. If you have previously logged in via the NCSOFT client and now you really want to play via Steam, you will have to start from scratch. The Guild Wars 2 Steam Store page can be found here.

By the way, newcomers can get a taste of Guild Wars 2 completely free of charge, the basic game offers enough content to keep you busy for days or weeks. However, the Free2Play accounts are also functionally limited

. Your character and inventory spaces are significantly reduced, various guild functions are not available to you and world chat and in-game post are also limited.

To bypass these limitations, you must purchase at least one expansion pack. The new Complete Collection, which costs just under 100 dollars, is available for new Steam players. This includes all three expansions and all five seasons of Living World, which tells a pretty compelling story.

Free rewards through Twitch Drops

Another new feature coming into effect with the release of Guild Wars 2 on Steam on August 23, 2022 are Twitch Drops.

The first Twitch Drop rewards campaign will run from August 23rd to 28th and will offer various rewards for watching (or running in the background) Twitch streams. Included are classic clothing sets, experience boosters, and a unique cosmetic item called Glowing purple mask.
