With Half-Life: Alyx in March 2020, Valve is delivering the blueprint for AAA VR games. But no matter how good the shooter may be, it has one major disadvantage: you absolutely need virtual reality glasses to gamble. This fact is now changing, thanks to eager modders.
Let’s not fool ourselves, Half-Life 3 will probably not appear again in our lifetime. The meme has become too big for that and developer Valve can hardly meet the expectations of the fans anymore. It is all the better that the brand was given at least some fresh life with Half-Life: Alyx in March 2020.

However, the adventure of the eponymous Alyx Vance has a major disadvantage that makes the shooter unplayable for many fans: it can be used exclusively on virtual reality systems. If you don’t have glasses, look into the tube. However, to Valve’s credit, they also adapted the title perfectly to virtual reality and created a veritable blueprint for AAA VR games.
If, for whatever reason, you don’t own any VR glasses, you can now rejoice. The GB_2 Development team has been releasing updates to the Half-Life: Alyx NoVR mod over the past few months. They always added new story segments that you can enjoy without VR. The time has now come and the mod is in Early Access, where you can play the entire game without glasses.
The modification can be found on ModDB. You can also get tips on how to install them here. If you are one of the achievement hunters on Steam, you can be happy because 33 of Alyx’s 42 achievements can already be unlocked.
Now, of course, the question arises as to how useful Half-Life: Alyx really is without VR. Because the game relies on the possibilities and immersion of virtual reality for pretty much every mechanic. So the experience should by no means be as awesome as with glasses.
