Since the announcement of Half-Life: Alyx, the upcoming VR shooter has been one of the hottest titles in the virtual reality area. Among other things, this led to the fact that Valve's own VR headset, the Valve Index, was quickly sold out and was extremely difficult to obtain even after the post-production.
Since Half-Life: Alyx can also be played with other PC VR headsets like Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, the pre-order numbers continue to go through the roof. Shortly before the release on March 23, 2020, there are now over 300,000 early decision-makers who have already pre-ordered their copy of the full-fledged VR shooter.

Buyers of the VR headsets mentioned Valve Index were responsible for around 119,000 of these pre-orders, according to surveys by PlayTracker, which you can also use to calculate how many VR gamers use other headsets. The pre-order numbers also mean something else: Half-Life: Alyx is currently the biggest Steam release so far this year – and that as a VR title!
The Valve Shooter also leaves other well-known titles such as Temtem, Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, Borderlands 3 or Black Mesa behind.
