Following on from the recent Winter Update, Halo Infinite is back with the December Update, which introduces a bunch of features that Halo fans should be raving about right now.

Check out what the Halo Infinite Winter update added here.

The most notable addition to the Winter Update has to be Forge, the map creator for Halo Infinite, but now, the December Update is backing it up with even more free content. This includes a shiny new custom game browser, which arrived much sooner than expected.

“This is a key support structure for player-created content in Forge, and the backbone of the community,” the Halo Waypoint blog detailed the update. It’s a big deal that the feature is rolling out months early, so 343 Industries has warned of nascent issues with the browser. Regardless, Halo Infinite players now have easy access to community-created content.

As part of the update, 343 Industries has also rebuilt and reintroduced the beloved Halo 3 map The Pit using Forge, but it will now go by a different name: Empyrean. The new map faithfully reimagines the most popular map in Halo 3 with a refreshed aesthetic.

Next up are some free cosmetics for players. “We’ve received a lot of feedback on armor customization for Halo Infinite, and we’re keenly aware that players—both new and returning—may be missing out on some of the unique content in seasons 1 and 2,” reads the blog road.

To ensure all players have enough customization options to play with, all existing armor cores are now available to all players, and all 10 cadet coatings have been added to existing armor cores. Adding these options from the start will allow players to further customize their outfits. All armor cores and cadet coatings should now be available from your cosmetic inventory!

Last but not least, 343 Industries addressed some quality of life improvements in Halo Infinite. Notable changes include improved keyboard and mouse support, improved networking and asynchronization, player reporting has been added to the scoreboard, and Energy Sword’s melee logic has been updated. This means that if two players melee each other without shields, the players melee and die.

Finally, 343 Industries would like to thank players for their continued feedback and support of the game. “Halo Infinite’s first year was one of many hard lessons learned, but we’re confident we can turn that around in 2023 as we look forward to Season 3 and more.”
