Today, May 4, 2024, we celebrate the International Star Wars Day. It is not something isolated on the part of the fans, but rather a festivity in which even Disney itself participates. This year, the company has premiered the series Star Wars: Chronicles of the Empire on Disney Plus and re-released The Phantom Menace in theaters so that fans can celebrate this day as it deserves.
Each fan has their custom: chatting with friends, going out to buy something, dressing up, watching series and movie marathons and even playing video games. My way of celebrating it, beyond using Disney Plus, has become a tradition that dates back to 2018. And I have never failed!
Return to Battlefront II
In 2024, I add a seventh edition to my annual tradition during Star Wars Day: returning to Battlefront II to enjoy the most incredible battles in the history of the franchise. From the times of the Clone Wars to the fierce confrontations of the Resistance against the First Order.
Despite its disastrous launch, Battlefront II It improved a lot and few video games as complete and with so much variety have followed it. There are modes for all players: campaign, multiplayer (PVP), cooperative (PVE), solitaire (PVE); from war campaigns that take place in various scenarios and can last hours to direct confrontations on small maps.
The cast of characters is large enough to satisfy all fans: from the four standard soldier classes, through the special classes, to the heroes/villains, who are iconic characters of the franchise with their own weapons and special abilities. There’s no way you won’t find a combination of eras and game modes that you don’t like.
Years ago I used to play the multiplayer mode (PVP) to celebrate Star Wars day, but in recent years I have opted for the PVE modes. Last year I completed the campaign again (highly recommended) and this year I am very clear that I am going to celebrate it in the cooperative modes (PVE). It is a calmer experience and one that I enjoy much more.
And I would be lying to you if I told you that I held out until May 4th to return to Battlefront II. I’ve been shooting with the clones and stormtroopers since last Thursday and I’m having a great time. Fighting in the most emblematic settings of the franchise is great, especially with the gameplay that the video game offers.
These days I have returned to relive iconic battles on Kamino and Felucia as a Clone soldier of the Republic and on Hoth as a Stormtrooper, as you can see in the YouTube video that I share about this paragraph. Returning to Naboo is always special, since it was the first map I played in Battlefront II
Fighting on the Death Star, Starkiller Base, and Capital Ships never disappoints. They are close combat encounters and shootouts in narrow corridors, the classic battles that tend to stalemate in PVP modes. Explosions, shots everywhere and groups of players with machine gunners using their machine guns to provide cover fire.
But if we talk about incredible maps, I have to mention Scarif Beach. Gunshots and explosions are integrated into a beautiful landscape of beaches, small islands and huge AT-ATs approaching over the horizon. It is impossible not to remember the movie Rogue One.
I really enjoy Battlefront II, especially when I play my favorite class: the heavy soldier. And yes, I know I have many more hours played with the Specialist, but no auto turret will be able to match the rush of pulling out a minigun and sweeping entire locations Terminator style.
I love Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, The Force Unleashed is a fucking legend and all the upcoming ones, like Star Wars Outlaws, are sure to be great… but the vibes it makes me feel Battlefront II They are unrepeatable. Another year celebrating Star Wars Day with this beautiful tradition! How have you celebrated it?
