Metroid Prime 4 is set to release sometime this year, but now Amazon seems to have started canceling people's orders.
If you can believe it, it's been eight years since Metroid Prime 4 was first released later this year, and six years since the game resumed development at Retro Studios. Nintendo finally re-released the game last June, subtitled “Beyond,” and even showed off some gameplay for the first time. Even with the long wait, I imagine some of you have been pre-ordering the game since it was first announced. But if you pre-ordered through Amazon, you may want to check if your order is still valid, as many online users have shared that their pre-orders have been cancelled.

In a post on Reddit's Metroid subreddit, a group of commenters shared that their Amazon pre-orders had been canceled, with many noting that they had received pre-order discounts. Considering Amazon doesn't really offer similar deals for video game pre-orders right now, it's no surprise that the company would want to pull these deals. On top of that, there's always the possibility that Nintendo could launch Metroid Prime 4 for $70, just like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
One user on Resetera shared an email notification they received about a canceled order, which Amazon explained was due to “out of stock.” This has obviously prompted some to jokingly (and some not so jokingly) conclude that this will be a Switch 2 exclusive, but Breath of the Wild is also releasing on Wii U, so that would be a pretty surprising one result. Nintendo's move – not to mention the fact that it actually released a list of games coming to Nintendo Switch in 2025 – would be a bad sign if it suddenly made the switch (pardon the pun). Anyway, definitely annoying for those with discounts, but what are you going to do! I guess, at least not from Amazon.
